Class 4

Welcome to Class 4

Summer Term 2022

Dear Class 4,

I hope you have all had a lovely Easter break.

I am really looking forward to the Summer Term.

We have lots of exciting plans in place for everyone to enjoy!

Class Four are taught by Mrs Donnelly-Stott (Monday) and Mrs Thornton (Tuesday- Friday). We also have French lessons with Miss Walsh on Wednesdays and Guitar lessons on Friday mornings with Joanna Flemming.

This term PE will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but please remember to have a kit in school every day as we do make occasional changes. Please have warm PE clothes and spare socks. On Tuesdays we will have cricket and Wednesdays we will be doing Archery.

This term our topic is Ancient Greece! We will be studying Odysseus and also learning about World Geography further into the term.
In our Science lessons we will be learning all about living things and their habitats and reproduction in plants and animals. We will be working on our  explanations and understanding of enquiry style questions.

Spelling- New spellings for this term are now available below or on the website under the following pathway: Children>Class pages>Class 4.

They are also linked on the Google Classroom.  Spellings will be uploaded to 'Spelling Shed', which can be accessed from Google Classroom, for your child to practise regularly at home through the style of fun games.

Guided reading – This will take place on Wednesdays or Thursdays in class. Children will be given homework based on the text which will usually include some reading too. Children are also expected to read daily from their chosen text. Homework will be available on Google Classroom and should be submitted on there too.

Maths- Please continue to help your child to learn all their tables. They will have a tables test each Friday alongside a Big Maths test – the Learn Its are based on the previous week’s test.  Maths homework will continue to be sent home on a Monday to be completed for the following Monday and submitted online.  Please access Times Table Rockstars to practise your tables and boost your point scores.

Guitar – Class 4 will continue guitar lessons on a Friday morning. Pupils are responsible for the safety and care of their instrument. They must be brought to school every Friday and kept at home in between lessons.

We’re all looking forward to an exciting term at school.
