Welcome to Class 4
Autumn Term 2021
Dear Class 4,
I hope you are well. I am really looking forward to Autumn Term. We have lots of exciting adventures planned for everyone to enjoy!
In Class Four we are taught by Mrs Donnelly-Stott (Monday) and Mrs Dobinson (Tuesday- Friday). We also have French lessons with Miss Walsh on Wednesdays and Guitar lessons on Friday mornings with Mr Haythornthwaite.
PE will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays but remember to have a kit in school every day as we do make occasional changes. Please have warm PE clothes as this will be outside as much as possible. This term we will have games on a Wednesday afternoon which means you will need old trainers that can get muddy on the field. We will also have Gymnastics on a Thursday afternoon when you will need a clean indoor kit.
This term our topic is all about Explorers. We will be learning about the Chris Bonington and Alfred Wainwright amongst others and finding out about the effects of tourism on the Lake District.
In our Science lessons we will be learning all about forces with some interesting investigations into friction, gravity and air resistance.
Spelling- New spellings for this term are now available on the website under the following pathway: Children>Class pages>Class 4 They are also on the Google Classroom.
Guided reading – This will take place on Wednesdays or Thursdays in class. Children will be given homework based on the text which will usually include some reading too. Children are also expected to read daily from their chosen text. Homework will be available on the Google Classroom and should be submitted on there too.
Maths- Please continue to help your child to learn all their tables. They will have a tables test each Friday alongside a Big Maths test – the Learn Its are based on the previous week’s test. Maths homework will continue to be sent home on a Monday to be completed for the following Monday and submitted online.
Guitar – Class 4 will begin guitar lessons on a Friday morning. Once instruments have been issued pupils are responsible for their safety and care. They must be brought to school every Friday and kept at home in between lessons.
Looking forward to seeing you all back at school.
