Pupil Premium  

Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

The School received the following funding in respect of Pupil Premium

 

The Pupil Premium funding that is received by the school annually is used in a variety of ways in order to improve pupil attainment and to help overcome any barriers to learning among disadvantaged children. We have utilised strategies from Narrowing the Gap and the Sutton Trust Toolkit to improve learning, that have been researched and analysed extensively, to inform us of the best ways to use this money.

 

Effective Feedback:

 

  • Parents are invited to attend bi-annual in-depth consultation meetings with the teachers to discuss their child and their next steps. Regular targets are set so that parents are able to support the progress of their child.
  • Targets are shared with pupils and parents so next steps are specific to each child and clear.
  • Children are given clear steps to move forward, on a daily basis, through Assessment for Learning.
  • We have developed a clear marking policy which allows clear and effective feedback to every child with time to response to feedback during lesson times

 

Early Intervention:

 

  • We have a range of new resources to enable us to deliver the new EYFS curriculum of 2015 effectively and meet the needs and interests of every child.

 

Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning:

 

  • This is used during PSHE sessions to help vulnerable children gain awareness and develop strategies to improve their approach to learning and life.
  • Self esteem is linked to this approach, so the children are given many responsibilities, such as School Councillor, dinner duty, recycling monitors, fruit monitors as well as being given opportunities to tell others of good work during Celebration assemblies every Friday.

 

Information and communication technologies:

 

  • We have invested in a range of new and enhancing technologies including iPad technology and listening centres.
  • We have invested in wireless technology and laptops to ensure children can support their learning in any area across school.

 

Small group targeted tutoring:

 

  • We provide small group intervention in the forms of Lexia, Reading Recovery, reading, writing and maths groups. This is to enable children to catch up with their peers and consolidate learning from whole class sessions.
  • We have also invested in a new maths scheme 'Busy Ants' and 'Big Maths' and associated resources to target an attainment shortfall..

 

INDIVIDUAL OPPORTUNITIES:

 

Monies are also used where appropriate to support children in taking up opportunities that they may not otherwise have been able to benefit from. Such opportunities may relate to musical provision and/or the full participation in trips and residentials.

• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

• Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

• The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit

• Child Tax Credit, provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) that does not exceed £16,190

• Working Tax Credit 'run-on' - the payment someone may receive for a further four weeks after they stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
