Class 3  

Welcome back to the Spring Term in Class 3!

 

We hope you have all had a lovely christmas making memories with your families and loved ones

.

In Class 3 our teachers are Miss Boyd (Mon & Tues) and Mrs Johnson (Wed, Thurs & Fri)

We are supported by Mrs Watson

Wednesday Afternoons - French with Miss Walsh and Music with Mrs Dobinson

 

Topic: This term we will be looking at our local environment, asking geographical questions and investigating what the impact of World War 2 had on the locality. We will be meeting  experts and looking at artefacts to support this topic.

We will be making maps, drawing comparisons between two locations and practicing our map reading skills.

 

English: This half term we will be looking at fables and traditional stories, then we will be moving onto adventure stories later in the term . We will be doing lots of research and investigation for our non-fiction work. Also we have a very exciting week coming up, which may well be flying in shortly! More clues to follow shortly. We are very pleased to be welcoming back Mr Beeby who is our drama guru and the children will be working on Performance Poetry on a Friday afternoon. 

 

 

Design Technology: We will be designing and making Anderson shelters in support of our Topic.

 

Art: In Art this term we will be looking at portrait artists and using different medias to create a self-portrait based on the work of another artist. 

 

PE This term is action packed for PE we start off with a very exciting opportunity in Dance leading to a performance at The Sands Centre in Carlisle as part of Udance, on Thursday March 21st - tickets are now on sale for this directly from The Sands Centre box office, we also have Action Ants and Gymnastics at Penrith Leisure centre to look forward to after half term.

 

Maths: Homework for Maths and times tables/learn its will be given out at the beginning of the week. We will have a Big Maths Beat That! test on Fridays and Times Tables test on a Monday. Children should continue to practise these at home.

 

Spellings: See at the end of this page for our Spring spellings. If you would like a paper copy please collect from Class 3. Our Spelling test will be on a Friday. 

 

Science: We are buzzing with Science ideas this term as we start off with Electricity! Then moving onto Where does all that food go? As we begin our Biology topic of teeth and the human body.
